Spider Web Bridges

Today we constructed Spider Web Bridges.  We had to include piers and a deck.  We had to think about tension and intersections.  They turned out pretty good and held a lot of blocks.

Today we read the book, We're All Wonders.  We learned an important message about how to treat people who are different.  The boy in the story puts on a space helmet when people hurt his feelings.  To help us remember this lesson we made astronauts and then created levers to launch them.  It was a fantastic Friday!

Dot Day

Today we celebrated International Dot Day.  It is inspired by the book, The Dot.  The book is about a girl who believes that she can't draw.  With a little encouragement from her teacher she becomes motivated and eventually gains confidence and realizes she is a creative artist.
